all the queer things
for the month of june, i tried my best to engage with as many pieces of queer media (either characters depicted are queer or the author/director are) as i could to celebrate pride month. i unfortunately didn't get to finish the goal i sort of set for myself as i spent much of my time cramming in some prep work for artfight1 โ but here's a list of what i did manage to read and watch.
movies
- but i'm a cheerleader (1999)
- the children's hour (1961) โ
- the bitter tears of petra von kant (1972)
- funeral parade of roses (1969) โ
- thelma & louise (1991)
- midnight cowboy (1969) โ
- cabaret (1972) โ
- mulholland drive (2001) โ
- the amazing digital circus: the last act (2026)
- bound (1996) โ
- totally f***ed up (1993)
- the watermelon woman (1996)
- tea & sympathy (1956)
books
- to be taught, if fortunate (2019)
- days without end (2016) โ
- the song of achilles (2011)
i might be biased as a homo myself, but i did like pretty much everything listed above. i'm a bit too lazy to write down my personal thoughts on all of them but you may check my letterboxd account for short reviews on some of those movies (if there's nothing written and you're curious, i sometimes write my reviews in the tags). for the books and movies with no review or tags, feel free to write me if you really want to know my thoughts. i marked the ones i was especially fond of with a star.
i hope you find something to try out from this short list! if you have any recommendations, i'd love to know too.
